Graham Onions is a sharp away swing bowler who has been on England's radar for some time. He was selected in various international squads throughout the 2006 season without ever coming close to making a debut and consolidated his reputation with England A.
Injuries and a wealth of fast-bowling talent at Durham restricted his 2007 and 2008 opportunities, but he was always in the selectors' thoughts and an impressive start to the 2009 season earned him a call-up for home series against West Indies. Onions made an instant impression, taking seven wickets on debut at Lord's. He went on to a have a successful 2009 Ashes series before a career threatening stress fracture in his back kept him out of cricket in 2010.
Onions returned to action for Durham in 2011 and impressive performances earned him a recall to the England squad for the final Test of the summer against India.
